What is Apple CarPlay

If you own a car and use an iPhone but haven't heard of Apple CarPlay, then your world is about to change! With the help of an intelligent interface, easy and fast connectivity to your phone and tons of features that make using your phone while you drive a lot safer, Apple CarPlay is the ultimate co-pilot for any kind of journey.

Apple CarPlay is a piece of software that is installed on car head units, allowing them to act as a controller for your iPhone. Many cars now have head units (the interface in your centre console where you control the stereo, phone connectivity and sometimes navigation) with Apple CarPlay, as an optional extra when you buy the car, so you can simply plug in your iPhone and start using it. However, if you have an older head unit or a system that isn't compatible with CarPlay, you may want to upgrade.

If you have an Android phone and would like a way to use it seamlessly and safely whilst in the car, you may be in the market for Android Auto. How to get Apple Car Play and Android Auto

Apple Carplay or Android Auto is now an option on many of the latest car models. Luckily for the majority of us who don't buy brand new cars there are options.

​

After Market Head Unit

The most common is a new head unit  radio), this where we use an adapter kit to fit an after market head unit into your car or van. The majority of these are double din but there are options for single din. Please give us a call to find out the cost of the adapter equipment and to discuss head units. We do stock a good selection of head units at completive prices, we are happy to fit head units that customers have supplied themselves. If a customers own supplied stereo needs to removed for warranty purposes on the stereo then a charge will apply.

We strongly advise you purchase from one of the well known brand as we have experienced a lot of problems with cheap Chinese stereos from Ebay.  We recommend Pioneer, Sony, Kenwood, JVC, Alpine

Car Interface Integration 

The second option is basically a clever box we fit behind your dash which will connect to your car or van's existing head unit to give it Apple Carplay or Android Auto. These are complex pieces of kits and take time to install so please give us a call for a price for your vehicle. Below is a list of vehicles we can add these interfaces too.
